So at what point is it fair that the older you get the worse the hangovers become?
As a teenager and early twenties I was a big binge drinker and smoker and my hangovers were bad but I could continue 5, 7 even 10 days on the trot with just a quick Bloody Mary (or actually in my case a full fat Coke) and then on with the drinking. OK, I didn’t have anything to get up for (well apart from University and then work) in the mornings but it didn’t matter I just coped.
I gave up smoking when I was 26 and the hangovers disappeared totally, not a jot, never ever. It was amazing. I couldn’t believe that smoking could really make me hungover and not the alcohol. So I was laughing, I sympathised with my friends when they were suffering but truthfully just thanked my lucky stars and patted myself on my back for having such an amazing constitution!
Then I hit 30 which also coincided with having children and it has become an absolute JOKE. OK, so when I drink I drink a lot – I’m a big girl and can take my drink – but still…. it just isn’t fair to punish me in such a way, especially when I have to look after my children with their whining and crying and constant why, why, why, why?????? No that’s not fair they’re not that bad at all however when I’m hungover THEY ARE THAT BAD.
So my Ranty Friday post this Friday really is in desperation – why oh why are my hangovers so bad?
Thanks for reading
ps – please check out my twitter friends blog – Mummy Barrow She is encouraging us all to let out a rant each Friday and posting it on her blog – letting out a bit of steam before the weekend comes.
*gulp* Will you rant at me if I tell you that I don’t get hangovers?
*runs away*
Oh wow I don’t want to be your friend anymore x
It’s because you’re getting old. It’s happening to us all, and it’s so not fair. *sobs* Good rant.
Nooooo we’re not getting old are we?
Great rant! So old and crumbly over here that I fall asleep these days before I’ve even had enough to get a hangover!
ha ha, my husband fell asleep on our dinner guests at about 10 the other evening – sooo embarrassing x
I don’t drink that much so I’ve never had a hangover, but I do suffer from migraines and it hurts!
Oh poor you. Thats much worse because at least with hangovers I’ve only got myself to blame 🙂
I can safely say I’ve never had a hangover – despite all the binge drinking I did at university. I expect I’ve got some really blinding ones coming in the future if karma keeps up, though…
Ha ha, that’s all so true! My hangovers are bad enough that with the children I really struggle to get through the day, and even find myself feeling that horrid jet-lag feeling several days later… I don’t drink much any more; it just makes me want to sleep!
It’s rubbish isn’t it…I’m only just starting to drink again after having my little boy…the other night had 2 and a half small glass of wine and the next morning I had a headache. I’m out tomorrow for my first girls night out in quite a while and dreading the head on Sunday!
Oh enjoy your night out. I remember my first time – just pace yourself and drink LOTS of water 🙂 Enjoy. If you have a partner try and persuade him to do the Sunday morning shift 🙂
Ooh water thanks for reminding me! Ha well I think he owes me so he will be on the early shift! 🙂
I’ll tell you a really good bit of advice, after finishing a glass of wine, fill it up with water and only when you’ve finished the glass of water can you put some wine in it- and then continue 🙂 Have a wonderful night x
Thank you I’m sure I will! xx
Nah it’s not the age it is just the children. When you have a hangover have you woken up naturally or have they woken you up? do you get to eat what you want etc?
We had 4 hrs sleep on a hen weekend (Fri-Mon) in Spain and LOTS of alcohol (I was knocking back half pint glasses of neat vodka – which they must water down) and no hangover – but no children.
Yes very very true 🙂
I’ve just found your blog Pinkoddy and love it x
Ah thank you :O)
